Parking and Shuttle Service

Grand Prix public parking is not available on Belle Isle.
The Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix offers round-trip shuttle service that runs continuously from two downtown Detroit locations as well as Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Shuttle service from downtown Detroit is provided without additional fee.

Suggested Parking Locations 

Friday, Saturday & Sunday
• Cobo Hall Roof (between Atwater & Larned Streets, just east of M-10, John C Lodge Expressway) Cost: $10 per vehicle per day

• Surface lots and street parking located throughout downtown Detroit Cost: Varies

The Detroit People Mover provides easy access to either of the shuttle boarding/drop-off locations. Cost: $1.50 round-trip per person

Saturday & Sunday Only
• GM Renaissance Center surface lots (B, C, G and M – east of the GM Renaissance Center between Atwater & Franklin Streets, starting at St Antoine and continuing east to Rivard) Cost: $10 per vehicle per day

• Beaubien Place Garage (corner of Beaubien & Atwater Streets) Cost: $10 per vehicle per day

Downtown Detroit Shuttle Service Locations

Inbound to Belle Isle
• Cobo Center (along Washington Blvd, near street level entrance)

• GM Renaissance Center (along Jefferson Ave, near the front of the building and immediately below the Detroit People Mover stop)

Return from Belle Isle
• Atwater St at Schweizer Place (serving both VIP and Public Parking Lots east of the GM Renaissance Center)

• Cobo Center (along Washington Blvd, near street level entrance)

• Jefferson Ave in front of the GM Renaissance Center (easy access to People Mover stop and parking lots north and west of the GM Renaissance Center)

Both of the inbound downtown Detroit Shuttle locations are easily accessible from any downtown parking lot by using the Detroit People Mover ($1.50 round-trip)

Downtown Detroit Shuttle Operating Times

Shuttle passengers will be dropped off and picked up at a staging area on Belle Isle known as the Cooper Standard Transportation Center. Shuttle buses run continuously during hours listed below.

Friday   
7 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Saturday & Sunday
7 a.m. – 9 p.m. or until all guests are accommodated

Transit Windsor Shuttle (Windsor International Transit Terminal)

Proper documentation is required to cross the international border.

Friday 
• Use Detroit-Windsor Tunnel Bus (runs continuously) and connect with GM Renaissance Center shuttles to Belle Isle.

Saturday & Sunday
• Operating Hours to Belle Isle:  8 a.m. – 2 p.m.

• Operating Hours from Belle Isle:  Continuously until 30 minutes following Saturday night concert and last race on Sunday or until all guests are accommodated.
Downtown Windsor passengers must board the Windsor Shuttle only.

Grand Prix Ferry Service

• Take the Grand Prix Ferry from the Detroit Port Authority, located at 130 Atwater Street in downtown Detroit, to the Harbor Master Terminal on Belle Isle, near the entrance to the Grand Prix.

• The Grand Prix Ferry will operate Friday, Saturday and Sunday of race weekend from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and the average transit time is 12 minutes.

• The cost is $10 per round-trip ticket to and from Belle Isle or a weekend ferry pass is just $27. Ferry tickets can be purchased race weekend at the Detroit Port Authority or purchase online at detroitgpferry.com

Wheelchair  Accessible Shuttles & Track Crossing

• A group of purpose-built, wheelchair accessible vans have been contracted to service physically-challenged individuals who are unable to climb aboard the shuttle buses or must be transported in wheelchairs.

• Each van holds two wheelchairs at one time.

• Vans will be deployed on demand to either inbound shuttle stop locations in downtown Detroit.  All suggested downtown Detroit parking lots are wheelchair accessible.

• Upon arrival at the Cooper Standard Transportation Center on Belle Isle, guests in wheelchairs who need to cross the track should proceed to the track crossing located between the Chevrolet Bridge and Turn 2 where priority will be given to cross the track during designated times each day.  Accessibility Ambassadors will be available to address any questions or needs.
