DETROIT, Mich. (November 12, 2025) — The much-anticipated return of Racing Day at the Detroit Auto Show will take place on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, featuring some of the top stars of motorsports (to be announced), world-class race cars, and interactive experiences throughout the course of the day.
Racing Day presented by the Detroit Grand Prix will rev up the Detroit Auto Show at Huntington Place in Downtown Detroit on January 20, with motorsports taking center stage as part of the growing collaboration between two of Detroit’s most iconic events.
Building on a Big 2025
Last year’s Racing Day drew packed crowds, created unique ride-along experiences, and delivered some of the show’s most shared social moments. Fan engagement around the on-stage conversations, autograph sessions, and race car displays proved that Detroit’s passion for motorsports is alive and accelerating.
Even More Dynamic in 2026
In 2026, Racing Day will expand and energize the experience with:
- More interactive fan moments on the concourse and show floor, including photo opportunities, “Winner’s Circle” activations, autograph sessions and hands-on touchpoints.
- A fuller track experience on the indoor course that honors some of the iconic landmarks featured on the actual Detroit Grand Prix street circuit, including production-vehicle ride-alongs with world-class drivers (driver lineup and ride windows to be announced).
- Enhanced programming on the main show floor stage, including Q&As and a panel featuring voices from the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear, as well as the broader racing community (full schedule to be announced).
- Iconic race cars and artifacts, including vehicles representing the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship that compete annually on the Streets of the Motor City at the Grand Prix.
The main show floor stage at Huntington Place will be open and accessible to all fans with tickets to the Detroit Auto Show on January 20 for Racing Day activities. In addition to the on-stage programming, the Detroit Grand Prix display areas will feature striking race cars, special vehicle displays, and fan-favorite photo opportunities like the “Winner’s Circle,” complete with trophies, hats, and champagne-bottle props, along with a Firestone racing tire-wall installation. Visitors can also explore the Detroit Grand Prix’s history through curated legacy imagery and storytelling elements.
Detroit Grand Prix Presence All Show Long
Beyond Racing Day, the Detroit Grand Prix footprint will drive excitement throughout the public days of the 2026 Detroit Auto Show (January 17–25). With displays on both the concourse and the show floor, the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear will feature video content, historical imagery, community engagement and high-performance open-wheel and sports cars, like the racing machines that compete annually on the Streets of Downtown Detroit.
The green flag waves on the Detroit Auto Show Saturday, January 17, and the show runs through Sunday, January 25 at Huntington Place. For tickets and more information, visit detroitautoshow.com.
